Designmuseum Danmark

Designmuseum Danmark occupies a low-slung, symmetrical complex of buildings organized around a central courtyard. It was originally built as the Royal Frederik's Hospital, Denmark's first public hospital, which opened on the birthday of King Frederik the Fifth in seventeen fifty-seven. The architects Nicolai Eigtved and Lauritz de Thurah designed the structure to provide light and fresh air to patients, features that later appealed to the designers who converted the site into a museum.
