Gammeltorv and Nytorv form a large, continuous open space in the center of Copenhagen, distinguished by the Renaissance-era Caritas Well at the heart of Gammeltorv. These squares served as the city’s primary administrative and judicial hub for centuries, hosting the town hall, marketplaces, and the public pillory.
