Wehrmacht Graffiti

The Wehrmacht Graffiti consists of small, weathered etchings carved directly into the yellow bricks of a symmetrical, twin-roofed warehouse building in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District. When German forces occupied the city in April nineteen-forty, they took control of this industrial area to manage local food supplies. Because guarding crates of potatoes twenty-four hours a day offered little excitement, soldiers spent their long shifts scratching personal notes, dates, and names into the building's exterior.
