Sankt Petri Kirke

Sankt Petri Kirke is identifiable by the tall, copper-clad spire that rises above its mid-fifteenth-century nave and choir. As the oldest surviving church in central Copenhagen, the building has endured centuries of transformation. Originally a medieval Catholic parish church, it spent time as a royal cannon and bell foundry following the Reformation. In fifteen eighty-five, King Frederik the Second gifted the site to the city’s German-speaking congregation, which has maintained it as their house of worship for over four hundred years.
