Børsen

Børsen is a seventeen-century building in central Copenhagen instantly recognizable by its long, red-brick structure and the ornate, copper-clad gables that mark its Dutch Renaissance design. Commissioned by King Christian the Fourth and completed in sixteen-forty, it was intended to establish the city as a major trading hub for Northern Europe. The building originally functioned as a commodity exchange, with merchant stalls on the ground floor and offices above, before it eventually served as the Danish stock exchange until nineteen-seventy-four.
