Rosenborg Castle rises with copper spires and sharply pitched gables above the surrounding King’s Garden. Built by King Christian the Fourth between sixteen oh six and sixteen twenty-four, this Dutch Renaissance structure served as his personal country summerhouse. The king was intimately involved in the design, often sketching details himself and altering plans mid-construction to reflect his ambition for Denmark to command prestige among the great courts of Europe.
