The main building of the University of Copenhagen at Frue Plads is marked by its distinct seven-gabled neoclassical façade. It was designed by the city architect Peder Malling and inaugurated in eighteen thirty-six. This building rose from the ruins of the university quarter, which had been destroyed during the British bombardment of Copenhagen in eighteen oh seven. Today, six copper busts stand in front of the entrance, representing influential scholars including the physicist Niels Bohr.
