Amagertorv

other

Amagertorv is defined by its distinctive pavement, a sprawling pattern of pentagonal granite stones in five different colors. This design, laid in nineteen ninety-three, covers the ground of what has been a central hub of Copenhagen since the Middle Ages. The square takes its name from the farmers of Amager Island, who regularly sailed across the water to sell their produce here, turning the site into the city's primary marketplace by the late seventeenth century.
