Place Broglie is a long, rectangular square in the historic center of Strasbourg, stretching two hundred seventy-five meters in length. It is defined by its wide, straight layout, a remnant of its medieval origins as a site for jousting and horse trading. In seventeen-forty, the Governor of Alsace, Marshal François-Marie de Broglie, transformed the former parade ground into a shaded promenade by lining it with trees.
