Nelson Mandela Bridges

landmark

The Nelson Mandela Bridges are a pair of parallel concrete structures that stretch across the Seine, connecting the suburbs of Ivry-sur-Seine and Charenton-le-Pont. These twin spans replaced an older crossing known as the Pont de Conflans, which once occupied this strategic point where the Seine and Marne rivers meet. Construction on the downstream bridge began in nineteen sixty-eight, and the project was fully completed in nineteen seventy-four.
