Parc de Bécon

The Parc de Bécon is marked by its two-level landscape, which drops from the high ground of Boulevard Saint-Denis down to the banks of the Seine. This park was once the private domain of the Château de Bécon, an estate that sheltered artists like the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux before heavy bombardment in eighteen seventy and the Second World War left the main house in ruins. The city eventually razed the structure in nineteen fifty-nine.
