The Île de la Jatte is a narrow, two-kilometer-long island in the Seine, recognizable by its position as a sliver of green space flanked by the urban density of Levallois-Perret and Neuilly-sur-Seine. Once a royal park for the family of Louis-Philippe, the island later transitioned into a popular nineteenth-century retreat where Parisians arrived by train to picnic and boat.
