The information plaque here is shaped like a dark grey cast iron oar, designed to evoke a ship's paddle in honor of the Latin motto of Paris. It marks the former site of the Cité Jeanne-d'Arc, a dense collection of residential buildings that occupied the space between seventy-one rue Jeanne-d'Arc and one hundred and sixty-two rue Nationale until the late nineteen thirties.
