Porte de Gentilly de Paris

The Porte de Gentilly was once a defensive passage through the nineteenth-century Thiers wall, which encircled Paris to protect the city. Located at the junction of Boulevard Kellermann and Boulevard Jourdan, it stood where the southern edge of the city met the commune of Gentilly. Today, the name marks a major transition point where the dense urban fabric of the thirteenth and fourteenth arrondissements gives way to the busy infrastructure of the boulevard périphérique.
