Boulainvilliers station sits on a rail connection that once linked the Gare Saint-Lazare to the Gare du Champ de Mars. Architect A. Barret designed the station specifically for the Exposition Universelle of nineteen hundred. The site originally functioned as an open-air stop along this line, which acted as a junction between the Invalides line and the Petite Ceinture.
