Château de la Muette

The Château de la Muette is recognized by the twenty-four hand-carved stone masks and theatrical allegories that decorate its facade. This eighteenth-century style mansion, located near the Bois de Boulogne, is the fourth structure to stand on this site since the sixteenth century. It was built between nineteen twenty-one and nineteen twenty-two by Baron Henri de Rothschild as his personal Paris residence, designed by the architect Lucien Hesse.
