Rising from the southern tip of the Île aux Cygnes, a long, narrow artificial island in the Seine, stands a bronze, quarter-scale replica of Liberty Enlightening the World. This statue, which reaches eleven and a half meters in height, is distinguished by its purposeful gaze; unlike its orientation when first unveiled, the figure now faces west, turning its back to the Eiffel Tower to look directly toward its larger counterpart in New York Harbor.
