The Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac is defined by its long, curved buildings perched on stilts above a lush, dense garden. Opened in two thousand six, this institution was the signature project of President Jacques Chirac, who envisioned a space to house and celebrate the arts and civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Architect Jean Nouvel designed the structure to break away from traditional western museum layouts, using fluid, transparent forms and vibrant, cantilevered boxes that hang over the riverbank.
