The Champs-Élysées stretches nearly two kilometers through the eighth arrondissement, connecting the Place de la Concorde to the Place Charles de Gaulle. You can identify the avenue by its vast width of seventy meters, which creates a monumental perspective framed by trees and historic architecture. Originally laid out in sixteen sixty-seven as a garden extension by André Le Nôtre, the path was once a marshy area on the outskirts of the city. Its name comes from Greek mythology, referring to the Elysian Fields where heroic souls found rest.
