The Galeries nationales du Grand Palais occupy a wing within the larger Grand Palais, distinguished by stone facades and a colossal glass roof that rises forty-five meters above the ground. Built for the nineteen hundred Exposition Universelle, the palace bears an inscription dedicating the site to the glory of French art. Its iron and steel framework represented a significant technical innovation at the time of construction, emerging from a collaborative design by four architects: Henri Deglane, Albert Louvet, Albert Thomas, and Charles Girault.
