The statue of Louis-Jean-Marie Daubenton stands within the grounds of the Jardin d'Acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne. A scientist born in seventeen sixteen, Daubenton was a physician, anatomist, and the first director of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. He spent his career classifying the natural world and is remembered for his anatomical contributions to the first fifteen volumes of the massive multi-authored work, Histoire naturelle.
