Pré-Catelan Garden

The Jardin du Pré-Catelan in the Bois de Boulogne is marked by a distinctive stone cross that stands near its entrance, a memorial to a thirteenth-century troubadour named Arnault Catelan who allegedly died in these woods. While one version of local lore links the site’s name to this tragic figure, other records suggest it honors Théophile Catelan, a captain of the hunt under Louis XIV.
