The Jardin du Ranelagh is a six-hectare public park in the sixteenth arrondissement, marked by its expansive, shaded lawns and a collection of sculptures, including a prominent bronze monument to the fable writer Jean de La Fontaine. Laid out in eighteen sixty by the engineer Jean-Charles Alphand, the garden follows the English style of landscaping, characterized by winding paths and an open, natural appearance.
