Shakespeare Garden Theater de Verdure

The Shakespeare Garden features five distinct plant collections designed to evoke the landscapes described in William Shakespeare’s plays. Yews and heathers relate to the wild settings in Macbeth and Hamlet, while aromatic Mediterranean flora brings to mind the atmosphere of The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. These thematic sections surround an open-air stage, the Théâtre de Verdure, which occupies a site once used for a nineteenth-century floral theater.
