The name of this place echoes a lost Renaissance residence, the Château de Madrid, which once stood nearby in the Bois de Boulogne. King François the First ordered the construction of that royal estate in fifteen twenty-eight, intending it as a significant pleasure house. It became known for its elaborate ceramic decorations, earning it the nickname the Faïence Castle before it was demolished at the end of the eighteenth century.
