Hôtel Crozat

The Hôtel Crozat, later known as the Hôtel de Choiseul, once stood on the west side of the rue de Richelieu in what is now the second arrondissement. Designed by architect Jean-Sylvain Cartaud and completed in seventeen oh four, the mansion served as a residence for the wealthy financier and art collector Pierre Crozat. Its most striking feature was not its street facade, which remained modest in width, but the deep property that widened toward the rear, where the house projected into expansive gardens with three separate exterior views.
