Archbishop's Palace of Paris

The Archbishop's Palace of Paris once occupied a site just south of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Established as a bishop's residence in eleven sixty-one by Maurice de Sully, the palace stood on the Île de la Cité for nearly seven centuries. It underwent a complete reconstruction in sixteen ninety-seven under Cardinal de Noailles, though the older chapel remained part of the complex.
