Saint-Sulpice Fountain

The Saint-Sulpice Fountain stands in the center of the square, defined by its three tiers of octagonal basins and a domed canopy supported by Corinthian pilasters. Architect Louis Visconti designed this monumental structure, which was completed in eighteen forty-eight. Four stone statues occupy niches around the base, representing the seventeenth-century religious orators Bossuet, Fénelon, Fléchier, and Massillon.
