The Éden-Théâtre stood on rue Boudreau with a facade that resembled a Hindu temple, a striking, exotic sight near the Palais Garnier. Inaugurated in eighteen eighty-three, this colossal building was designed by architects William Klein and Albert Duclos to hold four thousand spectators. It became a stage for large-scale ballets and, in eighteen eighty-seven, hosted the first Paris performance of Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin.
