The site at eleven boulevard Poissonnière was once one of the most famous music halls in Paris, the Théâtre de l'ABC. It opened in nineteen thirty-four after Mitty Goldin transformed the former Plaza theater into a venue dedicated to singers and performers rather than the large variety revues common at the time. Goldin specifically chose the name ABC so that it would appear at the top of alphabetical listings for Parisian entertainment.
