Abbey of Saint Genevieve

The most recognizable remnant of the lost Abbey of Saint Genevieve is the Tour Clovis, a medieval bell tower that rises above the surrounding masonry. This abbey was once a powerful center of religious scholarship and the final resting place of the patron saint of Paris. Founded in five hundred two by King Clovis the First, the monastery stood on a hill once known as Mount Leucotilius, housing a library that became one of the largest in Europe.
