Irish College in Paris

The Irish College in Paris is a fifteen bay, four-story building with two wings on the garden front, standing on a street renamed rue des Irlandais in eighteen oh seven to recognize the Irish presence. Founded in the late sixteenth century, the institution emerged to provide an education for Irish Catholic priests and students who were barred from such studies at home by the Penal Laws.
