The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson occupies a former parking garage at seventy-nine rue des Archives, recognizable by its unassuming street-level entrance in the heart of the Marais district. Established in two thousand three by the renowned street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, his wife and fellow photographer Martine Franck, and their daughter Mélanie, the institution holds a vast archive of the couple's life work. This includes nearly fifty thousand original prints, contact sheets, and personal documents.
