Montmartre Funicular

The Montmartre Funicular is an inclined transport system that climbs thirty-six meters up the Butte Montmartre in less than ninety seconds. It runs along parallel tracks beside the two hundred and twenty steps of the Rue Foyatier, connecting the Place Saint-Pierre at the base to the Rue du Cardinal-Dubois near the summit. Operated by the Paris transport authority, the system moves two million passengers annually, providing an alternative to the climb toward the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
