Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme

In January nineteen thirty-eight, the building at one hundred and forty, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré hosted the Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme. Organized by André Breton and Paul Éluard, this exhibition transformed the interior of the Galerie Beaux-Arts into an immersive, disorienting environment meant to challenge the rational world. Marcel Duchamp served as the generator and arbitrator, overseeing a space where paintings and objects became elements of a larger, collective creative act.
