Hôtel de Pourtalès

The Hôtel de Pourtalès sits at seven rue Tronchet, a historic townhouse identifiable by its neo-Renaissance facade featuring Corinthian pilasters and a frieze of scrolling foliage that evokes the style of a Tuscan palazzo. Built in eighteen thirty-nine by the architect Félix Duban for the Swiss-born banker and art collector Count James-Alexandre de Pourtalès, the residence was originally designed to house his extensive collection of antiquities and paintings.
