The Hôtel Daviel is an eighteenth-century building with a facade of pink stone from the La Couronne quarries, marked by Ionic pilasters and a central section crowned with a triangular pediment. Though it bears the name of a hotel, it never functioned as one; it was built between seventeen forty-three and seventeen forty-seven by the architects Jacques and Jean-Baptiste Gérard to serve as the courthouse for Marseille.
