Heidelberg PIWC (Christuskirche)

The Christuskirche is recognizable by its sixty-five-meter tower, which dominates the Weststadt skyline with a roof design unique among Heidelberg churches. Topped with five jagged copper decorations and a golden rooster that serves as a weather vane, the tower also features four large gargoyles representing the Evangelists. Completed in nineteen oh four, the church was built to provide a dedicated place of worship for the growing Protestant population of the Weststadt, sparing them from holding services in a local school gymnasium.
