The Heidelberg University Library is defined by its massive, four-wing red sandstone exterior, which blends the Renaissance style of the nearby castle with early twentieth-century Art Nouveau details. Architect Josef Durm designed this structure between nineteen oh one and nineteen oh five, giving it a rounded corner tower that echoes the architecture of the hillside fortress above the city.
