Rathaus

The Rathaus of Heidelberg, known as the Town Hall, sits prominently on the Marktplatz with a grand Baroque façade that marks the city's recovery from the seventeenth century. After French troops razed the previous structure during the Nine Years' War, the current building rose from the ashes between seventeen oh one and seventeen oh five. Its exterior displays the intricate coat of arms and monogram of the Elector Carl Theodor, a detail added when the Rococo balcony was incorporated in seventeen fifty-one.
