The Heiligenbergturm is a sixteen and a half meter high observation tower that rises from the summit of the Michelsberg, a lower peak of the Heiligenberg. Its structure is built from the salvaged stones of the nearby Stephanskloster, a medieval monastery that had fallen into ruin after the university senate decided to dismantle it in the sixteenth century. When you reach the top of the spiral staircase, you find a platform overlooking the Neckar Valley, the Old Town of Heidelberg, and the castle sitting on the opposite hillside.
