Jesuitenkirche

The Jesuitenkirche is recognizable by its strikingly high, north-facing facade, which features a central projection topped by a triangular gable and statues of Jesuit saints above its portals. Built between seventeen twelve and seventeen fifty-nine, this Baroque church was commissioned by the Elector Johann Wilhelm to serve as the heart of his efforts to re-Catholicize Heidelberg after the city had been largely Protestant.
