Arnarhóll

Arnarhóll is a prominent grassy hill rising between the historic center of Reykjavík and the waterfront. You can identify it by the bronze statue of Ingólfur Arnarson standing at its summit, depicting the man traditionally recognized as the first permanent Norse settler of Iceland. Created by sculptor Einar Jónsson and unveiled in nineteen twenty-four, the figure grips a spear and stands beside a high-seat pillar decorated with a dragon head.
