Austurvöllur

Austurvöllur is defined by its manicured green lawn and the tall bronze statue of Jón Sigurðsson at its center. This public square serves as a focal point for civic life in downtown Reykjavík, positioned directly alongside the Alþingishúsið, or Parliament House. Originally part of a simple farm field, the space transformed into a designated public park in the nineteenth century.
