Aðalstræti ten is the oldest timber house in central Reykjavík, recognized by its simple, iconic design and white-framed windows. Built in seventeen sixty-two, it stands as a relic from a time when the capital consisted of only a few farms and a couple of hundred residents. This structure was originally commissioned by Skúli Magnússon, a national treasurer often called the father of Reykjavík, as part of an effort to stimulate local industry with support from the Danish state.
