Reykjavík City Hall

Reykjavík City Hall occupies the northern shore of Tjörnin pond, with a modern concrete and glass exterior that appears to float above the water. Completed in nineteen ninety-two, the building houses the municipal headquarters for the mayor and city officials. Architects Margrét Harðardóttir and Steve Christer of Studio Granda won an international competition for the design, which emphasizes an integration between the structure and the pond with its resident birdlife.
