Forno del Quartiere (Bread)

The Forno del Quartiere, or ferran, is a traditional communal bread oven found in neighborhoods throughout the Marrakesh medina. You can distinguish these spaces by the aroma of wood smoke and baking dough drifting into the narrow, winding streets. Often appearing as modest, hole-in-the-wall entrances, these ovens are essential fixtures of the local community, operating from early morning until evening to serve residents who do not have their own ovens at home.
