Kathmandu Guest House

The Kathmandu Guest House is identifiable by its expansive, walled campus and a quiet garden courtyard that sits in sharp contrast to the dense, busy streets of Thamel surrounding it. Originally a private mansion built during the Rana Dynasty, it was purchased by the Sakya family in nineteen fifty to serve as a family residence. In nineteen sixty-eight, Karna Sakya transformed the mansion into a hotel with thirteen rooms, marking the beginning of the district’s evolution into a global hub for travelers.
