Pilgrims Book House began in nineteen eighty-four, when Puspa and Ramanand Tiwari established a store that eventually filled with hundreds of thousands of volumes on Buddhism, Hinduism, mountaineering, and regional history. For decades, the shop in the Thamel district became known for its maze-like interior, where shelves stretched from floor to ceiling. It drew travelers and locals alike who searched for rare texts on the Himalayas or copies of Nepali literature.
