The Fonte da Sabuga features a deep blue facade with a bright yellow border, and a prominent sun disk carved into its central baroque gable. A fountain existed on this site since at least the medieval period, but the structure currently standing was built in seventeen fifty-seven. The town’s Senate commissioned the work following the destruction caused by the great Lisbon earthquake two years earlier.
